Afortunadamente, Malala sobrevivió a este ataque terrorista y continuó peleando para que no haya ninguna mujer sin posibilidades de educarse en medio oriente y el mundo. Tanto así, que recibió el Premio Nobel de la Paz por esta cruzada en el 2014.
Eso es lo que la mayoría de las personas conoce de este curioso personaje, pero en esta ocasión el director Davis Guggenheim nos invita a descubrir quién está detrás de Malala , cómo su entorno y país de nacimiento van moldeando sus ideales, fortaleza y coraje.
Podemos ver la frescura de una adolescente de 17 años, que va al colegio, que tiene una familia muy convencional. Dando a entender que a pesar de tener la inmensa responsabilidad que conlleva su causa, todavía la avergüenza entablar una conversación con chico o es tímida cuando sus amigas hablan de relaciones amorosas.
Nos cuenta con la ternura y templanza que la caracteriza, como fue su vida desde pequeña y como hasta el día de hoy se siente una habitante del valle del Río Swat. Podemos sentir el dolor de no poder volver a su pueblo natal y como conserva la esperanza de reencontrarse con sus raíces y tradiciones.
Con un rol muy claro, valores y creencias impolutas, Malala cuenta en primera persona como su padre le enseñó a no quedarse callada y a tener el coraje para enfrentarse a situaciones extremas y superarlas.
A nivel documental siento que le faltó indagar más en la lucha actual de Malala y por lo que el mundo la reconoce. Ya que solo nos muestra imágenes de ella con personajes influyentes pero falta un poco de profundidad, lo que creo que podría producir más empatía y ganas de involucrarse en la causa.
El documental logra conmover y emocionar, lo encuentro muy valioso porque además de inspirar, nos acerca una realidad que no somos conscientes. Guerras, terrorismo, nulo acceso a la educación, represión y fundamentalismos religiosos tan poderosos que atentan contra la humanidad.
Es una buena instancia para salir de nuestra burbuja occidental y dejarse encantar por una personalidad influyente que nos inspirará a ser mejores seres humanos.
